Today was a very special day.
For those of you who don't know, this book would not exist without the creative drive and dedication of Joshua Gullion, a dear friend and core member of the AAW Games team who passed away far too young.
Josh was the kind of person who saw good in everyone and, for the first time in history, united all the 3rd party publishers, authors, artists, and cartographers as friends with one common thread, we were all friends with Josh.
Josh would share his love and passion for tabletop roleplaying games with anyone and everyone he came in contact with. Joshua was not one to shy away from uncomfortable situations and seemed to dive in with a passion that I rarely see in people, perhaps it was because he knew his time was limited. Regardless, he united people, he changed lives, and then he left this world. Luckily, Josh was able to hold the original Rise of the Drow books in his hands before he passed and for the first time, I think I saw him shed a tear.
I would like to thank Joshua's dear friends Mark Orsted, Joe Lamendola, Heart & Dave Hoover, and Josh's mother Georgia, for taking the time to meet and FaceTime me this morning while they received copies of the new book. That moment is a gift I will cherish for years to come.
Not a day goes by that I don't miss my friend but whenever I am feeling down and need a kick in the pants, Joshua is there to remind me that life is short and a gift, it is time to rise to the occasion and make the best of the gift I've been given.
